My relationship with India

People often say that India is not just a country, but is a continent. From north to south and from east to west people are different, languages are different, culture and traditions are different and their faith too. This is a huge country, in territory more than 30 times larger than Bulgaria’s territory, and its population is amazing numerous - over 1.1 billion people.

My relationship with India began in 1994, when I saw on TV a science popular movie, related with this country. Two things impressed me strong in this movie.

First, their poverty and misery in which they live is so big, it is really hard to imagine even for a man from Bulgaria. We often say we are very poor and live in need, but it is true only if we compare ourselves with the Western countries and America. If we compare with India or other Asian or African countries, then we are very blessed materially. There are millions people in India, who live on the street or in a buildings, parodying to be houses. Majority of them are poor people, sleeping on the streets and there they beg, and if someone show mercy to give them one rupee, they are satisfied, because often these unhappy people eat only once in two-three days. And when I say they are totally poor, I mean they really don’t possess anything, but only their clothes on their back.

The second thing that impressed me in this movie was Indian’s religiousness. Here I relate the word religiousness not with people’s attitude to the living God and their Savior Jesus Christ, but with that big lie, named idolatry. In India people worship 330 million gods and 200 million holy cows, which make it the country with most gods in the world, consequently, the country with the biggest curse in the world. Even some of Indian Parliament’s deputies, who believe Hinduism, do practices related with their faith, making people to disgust. Every morning they take a cup and go to some cow to get its urine and then they pour on themselves with it or drink it. And if it is a thing, practiced by Parliament’s deputies, who pretend to be the most intelligent people of the country, what can we say about those who live in the villages in ignorance.

The true Christian knows that God is one, revealed in Jesus’ image and there isn’t and must not exist any god or idol, made by human hand, to which ones give worship. Due to the clear revelation of Bible, concerning idolatry we know that God hates every idol stealing His Glory and every man practicing idolatry is under curse to be forever rejected from God’s presence. When I watched these frames, I thought to myself: “These people live unhappy in this world, because they are absolutely poor and cannot use any goods, created by God for the human beings, but more terrible is the fact, that after they die they will go to hell, because they haven’t believe in Lord Jesus. So, they are unhappy both in this life and when they die they stay in hell’s embrace for eternity. In both cases they are the most unhappy people in the World. That time a desire come in me to go with God’s grace and share the Good News about Lord Jesus and about the hope that He give for eternal life. I also wanted to give my part for evangelization of this country and not to be indifferent toward it’s suffers. Many years I prayed, fasted, read literature about India, watched video materials, in other words, I prepared myself for meeting with this land.
